Hamnavoe sailing to the Orkney Islands HAMNAVOE BACK IN SERVICE

The NorthLink ro-ro ferry MV Hamnavoe is back on station this morning on the Pentland Firth after a mechanical fault meant that she was withdrawn from her Stromness - Scrabster route yesterday afternoon.

Hamnavoe docked in Stromness HAMNAVOE - FRIDAY AFTERNOON'S SAILINGS CANCELLED

NorthLink Ferries has cancelled this afternoon's remaining sailings on the Pentland Firth route. The decision to cancel MV Hamnavoe's 16.45 sailing from Stromness to Scrabster and the return sailing from Scrabster at 1900 was taken after the vessel developed engine trouble on the early afternoon sailing from Scrabster to Stromness.

Gregor Yule from Energy Saving Scotland will be giving energy-saving advice on the Aberdeen to Lerwick sailing on Monday 9th August and the Lerwick to Aberdeen sailing from 7.30pm on Thursday 12th August.

In an effort to combat the high level of ‘no show’ bookings which lead to vessels sailing with unused space on the vehicle deck, NorthLink Ferries is to introduce a temporary revised charging structure for freight customers on the three worst affected services.

Northlink ferry services between Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick and on the Pentland Firth are set to return to normal over the next few days. By Sunday night it is anticipated that normal service will have been resumed on all routes.
