SEVERE WEATHER AND LOW TIDES FORCE CANCELLATIONS AND DIVERSIONS

Today’s (Tuesday, October 22) scheduled NorthLink sailings from Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick have been cancelled due to the severe weather conditions, including force nine to ten gales.

MV Hamnavoe, the third and final vessel in NorthLink’s £100m fleet of cruise-standard ferries, is named officially today at a ceremony in her home port of Stromness, Orkney.

MV Hjaltland, one of NorthLink’s new fleet of cruise-standard ferries left Aberdeen this evening on her first commercial sailing, bound for Lerwick in Shetland via Kirkwall, Orkney. Passengers were welcomed aboard the £30m vessel in Jamieson’s Quay by Jarl Bruce Leask and his squad of vikings from Shetland who will accompany the ship on her first journey on the route.
