A three-day NorthLink ferry cruise tour of Orkney and Shetland by a group of influential travel trade guests has given a significant boost to the Northern Isles £35m tourism industry.

The MV Hrossey open day staged at Kirkwall Pier, Orkney, on Sunday attracted just short of 4400 visitors, surpassing the number that visited her sister-ship, Hjaltland, in her home port of Lerwick a fortnight ago.

NORTHLINK RELEASE TEMPORARY PENTLAND FIRTH TIMETABLE

NorthLink will operate a new interim timetable on the Pentland Firth ferry route from tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1) due to extended temporary arrangements at Scrabster harbour.
