NORTHLINK INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR SECOND PHASE OF 2004 SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME
17 May 2004

The second phase of the NorthLink Sponsorship Programme 2004 will open for applications from 1 – 30 June, with requests invited from individuals, groups, clubs and charities throughout the Northern Isles.

The success of the Sponsorship Programme, launched in 2002, prompted NorthLink to introduce a new application process for 2004. All sponsorship requests for the year were split into two tranches, with the first closing date for applications set for the end of January 2004.

In the first phase of this year’s Sponsorship Programme, NorthLink will have contributed almost £80,000 worth of travel sponsorship to over 100 applicants. Although NorthLink does not offer cash sponsorship, the ferry operator can provide free and discounted travel, as well as travel vouchers for prizes.

Elaine Tulloch, NorthLink’s marketing projects manager, said: “Due to the volume of requests we receive each year, the new system was put in place to make sure all requests are considered on a like-for-like basis and that the allocation system is as fair as possible.

“The second tranche of the Sponsorship Programme covers the period from 1 July to 31 December 2004. In order to ensure we can accommodate specific travel dates, we would ask applicants to ensure forms are received before the closing date of 30 June 2004. Applications received after this date will be held until the next tranche is opened.”

All requests for sponsorship should be submitted on the new NorthLink application form. Once an application has been received, an acknowledgement form will be issued. All applications will then be considered after the relevant closing dates.

If an application has been successful, a letter detailing the sponsorship agreement will be issued, explaining the procedure for making future bookings with NorthLink. Alternatively, if a voucher has been requested this will be enclosed along with relevant forms to record the prize winner’s details.
