| ANOTHER LANDMARK IN NORTHLINK FERRY CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMME | |
| 29 November 2001 The NorthLink ferry building programme logged another milestone this week (November 27) when work began on Hamnavoe, the vessel which will operate on the Pentland Firth route between Scrabster and Stromness. The traditional “metal cutting” ceremony at the Aker Finnyards yard in Finland was carried out by Lloyds Register MARSPEC on-site project manager Roy Chenery. Also in attendance were the Aker Finnyards president Gunnar Skjelbred and Bill Evans from MARSPEC. Construction of all three vessels at the Aker yard is now under way. The NorthLink Orkney and Shetland Ferries website – www.northlinkferries.co.uk – carries a Picture Gallery section with regular photographic updates of the build process. | |
