| BREAKFAST IS ORDER OF THE DAY FOR CANCER CHARITY | |
| 09 March 2005 Breakfast will be the most important meal of the day on NorthLink’s ferries next week, the company having pledged to donate all breakfast takings on Friday’s (March 18) sailings to Cancer Research UK (Scotland). Restaurants on-board NorthLink’s three passenger vessels - Hamnavoe, Hrossey and Hjaltland - will offer a special breakfast menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, such as scrambled eggs with Shetland smoked salmon. The NorthLink breakfast events have been organised in conjunction with the leading UK cancer charity’s nationwide campaign, Britain’s Biggest Breakfast. All proceeds from the NorthLink breakfasts, which cost £4.85 each, will go to Cancer Resarch UK (Scotland). The chance to enjoy an on-board breakfast is not only limited to those passengers sailing with NorthLink on Friday. The ferry operator will also welcome diners aboard MV Hrossey in Aberdeen harbour and MV Hjaltland in Lerwick harbour on Friday between 8.00am and 9.00am. On the Pentland Firth route, the charity breakfast menu will be available on MV Hamnavoe during the 6.30am sailing from Stromness and the 8.45am departure out of Scrabster. Elaine Tulloch, marketing projects manager with NorthLink Ferries, said: “We ran similar events for our passengers at the same time last year and they proved a real success, raising more than £600 for Cancer Research. We’re desperately keen to try and improve on that figure this year if at all possible, so we are appealing for as many people as possible to come along and support the events. “In addition to the various breakfast options available to our customers, we will be providing information on Cancer Research UK and the charity’s work, and the public will have the opportunity to make a donation to the charity via collecting tins on-board. “I’d like to thank Aberdeen-based George Craig & Son Catering Division for their support in this fundraising initiative and, of course, all the NorthLink staff and crew who have made it possible.” For security reasons, NorthLink requests that all those wishing to attend the breakfasts in Aberdeen and Lerwick contact the company to reserve places. This can be done by telephone, on 0845 6000 449. | |
