NorthLink Ferries is now accepting applications for sponsorship from individuals, charities, sporting groups, musicians and athletes in the Northern Isles and beyond.

The ferry provider will allocate £50,000 of free travel and discounted fares between October this year and the end of March 2008.

Since it began operating in October 2002, NorthLink has provided nearly half a million pounds in sponsored travel.

Elaine Tulloch, NorthLink marketing manager, said: “Since day one, NorthLink has been committed to playing an active part within the local communities that we serve.

“We are proud sponsors of a variety of individuals and causes that we hope will enrich the islands’ social, cultural and sporting life. Our sponsorship programme is immensely popular and we look forward to being inundated with applications for sponsorship within this next tranche.”

The closing date for applications for sponsorship is Monday, September 24, 2007.
