NORTHLINK TO FLY THE FLAG AT WORLD TRAVEL MARKET IN LONDON
06 November 2007

NorthLink is to fly the flag for the Northern Isles at the influential World Trade Market in London next week (November 12 – 15).

The World Travel Market is the premier global event for the travel industry. It brings together leading travel and tourism operators from nearly every country in the world.

Last year’s event was attended by nearly 50,000 tourism professionals, travel journalists and members of the public. Over 11,000 trade buyers attended and over 200 countries and territories were represented.

The event, which takes place at the ExCel centre in London Docklands, will provide the global platform for the launch of NorthLink’s 2008 consumer brochure.

NorthLink Marketing Projects Manager Elaine Tulloch said: “The brochure will follow a similar format to the well received 2007 version with destination content, NorthLink service details, timetable and fares as well as showcasing those accommodation, attractions and tourism business operators who have opted to promote themselves in partnership with NorthLink.”

“The 2009 Group Tours preview brochure will also be launched at the show and it will be available alongside the current 2008 brochure which is currently proving extremely popular with the trade and with group tour bookings continuing to sell well,” she said.

NorthLink will have designated space on the VisitScotland stand.
Ms Tulloch added: “We are mindful, always, that NorthLink exists first and foremost as a lifeline ferry service for inhabitants of Orkney and Shetland.

“ However, it has been shown over the past five years that with our cruise quality vessels it is possible to cater for both islanders and visitors and there is no doubt that the NorthLink offering adds significantly to the economy of both destinations,” she said.
