The Ladeberry and Lönabrack a la carte restaurants on the NorthLink Ferries Hrossey and Hjaltland are about to undergo a tasty makeover which will further enhance the visual appearance of the area and increase the number of dining places available.

The number of places available will be increased from 30 to 37 on each vessel and, following feedback from customers, an additional round table will be added to each which means that for the first time the restaurants can accommodate parties of more than four per table.

The restaurants are also to be provided with new tableware, table coverings and carpets. The bulkhead between the restaurants and the lounge areas will be moved to accommodate the increased table numbers.

NorthLink fleet manager hotel operations Peter Hutchinson said: “The first restaurant refurbishment since the two ferries went into operation in 2002 will allow us to accommodate more diners on each trip and, even more importantly, will allow us to showcase even more locally produced produce.

“We have made it our business to serve fresh produce sourced from Orkney and Shetland and the North of Scotland. Indeed, for many of our passengers this has become one of the highlights of their trip with us. We’ll now be adding even more locally sourced items and seven more passengers on each sailing will now have the opportunity to sample the worldclass fayre from our suppliers,” he said.

The refurbishment work is due to begin on Monday March 23 and is scheduled to last for five days. The work is expected to be completed on Saturday March 28. During the revamp period the a la carte restaurants on each vessel will be closed on a rotation basis for a number of crossings. However, when the Ladeberry and Lönabrack restaurants are closed, there will be a selection from the a la carte menu available in the self service restaurants. Details are available below.
