ENERGY SAVING ADVICE AVAILABLE ON BOARD

Passenger notice - Gregor Yule from Energy Saving Scotland will be giving energy-saving advice in the reception area of Deck 6, on the Aberdeen to Lerwick sailing on Monday 9th August and the Lerwick to Aberdeen sailing from 7.30pm on Thursday 12th August.

The Energy Saving Scotland advice centre, located in Inverness, provides free, impartial advice on a range of matters including home insulation, domestic renewable technology and sustainable transport. Advice given helps individuals reduce their fuel consumption, save money, as well as cut down their transport CO² emissions.

Subjects advised on will include:

  • Eco-driving: Adopting Eco-Driving tips can easily save you 15% or more on your fuel costs, while also reducing CO 2 emissions;
  • Buying cleaner, more fuel efficient cars: If clients are thinking about changing cars we can provide free, impartial advice about the cleanest, most fuel efficient cars in class and what to look for when buying a used car;
  • Using the car less : We can help clients plan their journeys by promoting car share schemes, public transport, and initiatives such as the bike to work scheme and the “Paths For All” partnership.

As well as distributing leaflets and giving away free energy saving gadgets, there will also be a free prize draw where participants can win a year's free car insurance up to the value of £600 with the Green Insurance Company.
