NorthLink Ferries backs young people’s journey to the future

Tuesday 10th July 2018

In support of the Year of Young People 2018, and in partnership with Caber Coffee’s Ethyco range, NorthLink Ferries is looking for two outstanding young people to apply for a travel bursary.

The bursary is intended to be used towards the cost of attending a significant cultural or leadership event. Two grants are available and can be used towards event entry fees, accommodation or travel.

Stuart Garrett, Serco’s Managing Director of NorthLink Ferries, said: “Year of Young People 2018 is an opportunity for generations to come together and celebrate our nation’s future, and it was important to us as a company to be able to lend support to this important initiative.

“Today’s young people are the decision makers of the future and we’d love to contribute towards their growth by helping them cover the cost of attending an event which will enrich their development.”

The funding for this bursary comes from a percentage of all Fairtrade Ethyco coffee sales on board NorthLink Ferries’ fleet of vessels, which is in turn invested back into the local community.

Caber Coffee Managing Director Findlay Leask added: “Our Ethyco range is not only Fairtrade but also helps local communities as a percentage of all sales is re-invested in social enterprise projects here in the UK. We were very happy to partner with NorthLink Ferries to provide financial support for our young people here in Scotland in order to help them reach their full potential.”

Applicants must be under 24 years old and entries must be received no later than 5pm on Tuesday 31st July 2018.
