Name the new NorthLink Ferries freight vessel
A replacement for the NorthLink freight and livestock vessel Clare has been secured and comes into service soon. The replacement vessel is the 122-metre ro-ro ferry currently named Clipper Racer which was built in Spain in 1998 and can also accommodate up to 12 passengers.
To celebrate the arrival of the new freight vessel, Islanders are invited to suggest a new name for this latest addition to the NorthLink fleet and win a terrific prize.
To enter simply add your suggestion and the reason (if any) for your choice, as well as your name and address.
The winning entry will secure for its author the prize of four return trips with cabin for two and car (or equivalent) on one of our passenger ships and also the honour of being centre-stage at the formal naming ceremony to be held later in the year.
The closing date for entries will be 5th November 2010.
The Ship Name competition is now closed - thank you to all who entered.
The winning name was 'Helliar' as chosen by Dave Ridealgh.
