Customer Services Manager

Stromness, Orkney, Full time, 37 hours, permanent
£35,000 to £40,000 dependant on experience

Purpose of role

The Customer Service Manager is expected to lead and manage locations within one of Transport’s flagship contracts delivering a safe and exceptional lifeline ferry service from the Scottish mainland to the Northern Isles.

Main duties

  • Compliance with the Serco Management System, Contractual Obligations, legal/ regulatory
    requirements and standards and KPIs.
  • Maintain and develop documentation at a contract operation level that supports the Serco
    Management System.
  • Manage the delivery of the NorthLink Ferries Customer Service operation across operating
    sites in Stromness, Scrabster, Hatston and Kiln Corner identifying key trends and aligning
    service delivery accordingly.
  • Provide monthly Customer Service reports and KPIs to the Managing Director in support of
    this function.
  • To provide data and analysis for on-going budget and forecasting setting purposes.
  • Expected to foster and maintain relationships with key influencers within the local community.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or at least 5 years minimum experience of working within Customer Services preferably with experience of managing large teams.
  • Proven track record of achieving first class customer service in both a call centre and face to face customer contact environments.
  • Trained to at least Yellow belt level and the ability to demonstrate Continuous Improvement and operational excellence.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Personal Effectiveness & Motivation.
  • Computer literate, in particular proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Work and Outlook and social media platforms.
  • Analytical and Creative Thinking.

Training & Resources Officer

Purpose of role:

To provide professional support to the NorthLink Ferries operation ensuring that all personnel assigned to each hold the appropriate qualifications & certification as required by MCA, MLC, Statutory and Company requirements

Main duties:

  • Ensure all vessels are safely manned with suitably qualified, medically fit, experienced seafarers in accordance with MCA, MLC, Statutory, and Company requirements.
  • Maintenance of seafarer training records, including checks on authenticity, application and revalidation of all required certificates
  • Conduct regular training needs analysis ensuring that all training needs are identified and that priorities are assessed
  • Ensure that all training administrative processes and practices are carried out effectively and efficiently and that professional standards are maintained
  • Development and maintenance of a training plan to cover all regulatory and non-regulatory training requirements for crew working on vessels
  • Adhere to Serco Group policy and procedure guidelines
  • To embrace the business’s Health and Safety culture and take reasonable care of your own and other people’s health and safety. Contribute to Health and Safety in the work place whilst adhering to Serco Management System requirements.
  • To adhere to the ISPS code to a level suitable to your position as stipulated by your line manager. Undertake security in line the Serco Management System, with particular reference to Information Security
