Customer Service Assistant, Lerwick

Permanent Position: 35 hours

What you will need to do the job
We are looking for someone with well-developed communication skills and ability to deliver first class Customer Service. You must have good IT and Administration skills.

Previous experience working in a customer services role. Be Educated to Scottish Higher Grade Standard or Equivalent. It is important you can communicate well with team members and the public. You must be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment and to enjoy it.

Cleaning Operative, Aberdeen

Casual work, Variable hours, Sunday-Saturday

NorthLink Ferries sail daily from Aberdeen to Lerwick with frequent calls at Kirkwall, and from Scrabster on the north coast of Scotland to Stromness in Orkney. Our ferries operate 363 days per year providing the lifeline service to the Northern Isles, with islanders, visitors, goods and supplies all travelling by NorthLink Ferries.

The principle function of the Cleaning Operative is to always provide a high standard of service to the customer, specifically to ensure a high level of cleanliness of the Vessels, terminal buildings and other port facilities at all times.

The nature of this work requires the post holder to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the client and/or Customer Representative.

Principal duties of the post include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring all areas of the Vessels are kept clean and tidy
  • Ensuring defects found within the Vessel are reported to line management
  • Lost property must be dealt with according to Serco NorthLink lost property policies
  • Ensure that the PPE provided is worn on duty
  • Cleaning within a kitchen environment
  • Working on a vessel prior to departure
  • Cleaning within the terminal buildings as required and any other port facilities
  • Making up cabins and beds daily
  • Ensure all Serco Essentials and E -learning is completed and up to date.
  • Any other duties as required by the cleaning supervisor and Passenger Service Officer
  • Responsibilities will vary according to the requirements of the business

What you need to do the job:

  • Living within the local catchment area and being flexible with working hours
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with speed and an eye for detail under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Understanding of COSHH regulations and health and safety awareness.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Complete all required training for the position
