Notice to Vehicle Drivers

On MV Hamnavoe (Scrabster – Stromness)

  • Please be aware of moving vehicles and any trip hazards on the vehicle deck, and use caution when navigating in the vicinity of cargo securing chains and / or equipment.
  • Once parked on the vehicle deck, please leave your car in gear with the hand brake / park mode applied. Any towed items should also have brakes applied.
  • Please disable any alarm system as the ship’s motion may activate it.
  • There is restricted access to the vehicle deck whilst at sea.
  • If you are travelling with a caravan or camper please ensure that gas cylinders are turned off / isolated.
  • Do not use mobile phones whilst moving around ports or on the vehicle deck.
  • Smoking is prohibited on the vehicle deck.
  • Please do not start engine or manoeuvre until instructed to do so.

On MV Hjaltland and MV Hrossey (Aberdeen, Hatston and Lerwick)

In the morning

  • Only the driver needs to come down to the vehicle deck (when called) to remove their vehicle. Passengers are welcome to stay onboard until 0800 (Aberdeen) and 0830 (Lerwick).
  • Please be aware of moving vehicles and any trip hazards on the vehicle deck, and use caution when navigating in the vicinity of cargo securing chains and / or equipment.
  • Drivers wishing to return to the ship after disembarking their vehicles should go back into the passenger terminal, through the walkway and show your boarding card to security.
