Junior Inter County sailings provide perfect getaway opportunity for weekend holidaymakers

Wednesday 29th May 2019

NorthLink Ferries has scheduled additional Kirkwall calls to accommodate this year’s Junior Inter County competition, set to take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June 2019. The annual event sees over 200 young athletes from across the Northern Isles compete in a series of sports including netball, swimming, athletics, hockey and football for the coveted Stuart Cup.

The additional sailings on Friday 31st May 2019 and Sunday 2nd June, departing from Aberdeen and Lerwick and calling at Kirkwall, will not only allow the young competitors to reach the sporting event but will also provide the perfect opportunity for holidaymakers to spend the weekend in Orkney.

Seumas Campbell, Serco’s Customer Service Director, commented: “We are always very pleased to be supporting the Junior Inter County, which is a key event in the calendar for both Orkney and Shetland but are also excited to provide this great opportunity for visitors to make the most of a weekend in Orkney.

“We wish both the Orkney and Shetland teams the best of luck in this year’s competition and hope visitors enjoy a weekend getaway in the Northern Isles.”

The annual Junior Inter County teams are just two of the many supported by the NorthLink Ferries sponsorship programme, which helps a wide range of community groups, schools and individuals as they travel to and from Orkney and Shetland.
