Announcing the Orkney Nature Festival Cruise 2019

Tuesday 9th April 2019

NorthLink Ferries are delighted to announce that this year’s Orkney Nature Festival will culminate in a wildlife cruise on MV Hamnavoe from 13:00 to 16:00 on Sunday 19th May 2019.

Orkney Nature Festival Cruise - Costa

Leaving from Stromness on MV Hamnavoe, the wildlife watching boat tour will sail up the west coast of Mainland Orkney, giving those aboard spectacular views of the island and surrounding seas. For nature enthusiasts, there will be a plenty of seabirds to spot including razorbills, gannets (pictured), guillemots and fulmar. There may even be a chance to see dolphins and whales.

The landscape will be worth the trip alone; you can see the Black Crag, the sea stack North Gaulton Castle (pictured) and the remarkable cliffs at Yesnaby. Further on there’s the Broch of Borwick, the Hole o’Rowe and Skaill Bay, which is home to the ancient village of Skara Brae. Passengers will be able to admire Marwick Bay and Kitchener’s Memorial from the sea. If conditions are good enough, we aim to make it all the way to the Brough of Birsay.

On top of all that, there will be a buffet and a number of activities on board, including rum and gin-tasting, craft displays and a raffle with some excellent prizes.
