The MV Hamnavoe took part in a training exercise with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in Scapa Flow. The MCA emergency towing vessel undertook the tow of a significantly sized ‘disabled’ vessel in this exercise.

This experience helped to provide an enhanced training opportunity for many groups including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, NorthLink Ferries personnel, OIC Marine Services and the Shetland Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.

One of Shetland’s biggest events (that doesn’t involve fire!) is the Shetland Folk Festival – which celebrated their 40th anniversary this month. From the 28th April to 1st May, an incredible roster of artists (including some of the best local and visiting musicians there are) will be performing at venues throughout the isles.

NorthLink Ferries were happy to welcome a number of artists to the terminal as they make their way north on tonight’s sailing. We hope they all had a comfortable journey with us and enjoyed their time in Shetland!
