NorthLink Ferries calls for Sponsorship Applications

Serco NorthLink Ferries would like to remind local residents, clubs and event organisers to apply for sponsorship through the NorthLink Ferries Sponsorship Programme.
The company’s bi-annual sponsorship call closes at 5pm on Wednesday 11 September 2013.
The scheme is designed to support local community groups, events, and individuals by providing discounted fares and travel vouchers to enable them to travel between the mainland and the islands of Orkney and Shetland.
Previous recipients of sponsorship include Orkney Athletics Club and Shetland Gymnastics Club, who regularly compete at regional and national events. NorthLink Ferries awarded both clubs discounted travel to enable more children to take part in events.
Andrea Henderson, Shetland Gymnastics Club Treasurer, said: “It is so important for the development of sport in Shetland that the children get the opportunity to compete on the mainland, however, the financial cost of doing so is very high so any help towards this is appreciated.”
Stuart Garrett, Managing Director of NorthLink Ferries, said: “We understand how vital the ferry service is to the residents of Orkney and Shetland. That’s why we’re delighted to be able to offer this sponsorship as part of our wider commitment to the community.
“It is particularly pertinent in the run up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games that we support our young people from the islands with travel opportunities to participate in grassroots, regional and national sporting events.
“We are very much looking forward to receiving applications and hearing how we can support local people and groups in the great work they do.”
The sponsorship is for the period 1st October 2013 to 31st March 2014.
