NorthLink Ferries puts the “fun” into £7,000 fundraising for The ARCHIE Foundation

More than £7,000 has been donated to The Archie Foundation thanks to NorthLink Ferries staff.

From sponsored walks, to abseiling down buildings, the NorthLink Ferries team has done it all in an effort to raise as much money as possible for the organisation. With £7,072.35 now handed over to the charity, The ARCHIE Foundation will be able to continue to provide specialist equipment and staff, create a welcoming hospital environment for families and provide accommodation for parents that need it.

Highlights from the past year include supervisors Claire Sweetin and Kathryn Fullerton abseiling down the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and six staff members undertaking a virtual walking challenge, which saw them strive to complete 13,500 steps a day to reach a 175 mile target.

Team members from The ARCHIE Foundation also travelled to Shetland to join the NorthLink Ferries team in a sponsored walk from Lerwick to Scalloway.

Seumas Campbell, Serco’s customer service director at NorthLink Ferries, said: “All our staff did a fantastic job at raising this money for The ARCHIE Foundation. They took every challenge in their stride and smashed all their targets.

“The ARCHIE Foundation does a great job at supporting children and their families when they need it most, so we’re very proud to do what we can and give over £7,000 to support them.”

The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and works across the North-east and Shetland and Orkney to provide specialist equipment and staff and create amazing hospital environments to make patients and their families feel welcome.

Jamie Smith from The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “The money raised by NorthLink Ferries will go directly to helping us provide the very best for patients and their families at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity and we’re excited to work with them again in the future.
