Saturday 24th – Sunday 2nd October:
It is Shetland Wool Week! The next 9 days are dedicated to celebrating the wool of Britain’s most northerly native sheep, Shetland’s textile industries and farming communities.

Shetland is associated with distinctive knitwear. Native Shetland sheep are hardy and colourful, and for centuries, knitting has been an important part of self-sufficient island life.

This popular and fun festival’s events include exhibitions, open studio tours, and master classes with well-known local and international knitters and designers.

We hope that everyone who attended Shetland Wool Week had a fantastic time!

Wednesday 21st – Sunday 25th September:
Wordplay, Shetland’s festival of literature, took place from Wednesday 21st – Sunday 25th September. It featured an exciting list of guest authors of local, national, and international renown for readings, workshops and school sessions.

There was also an opportunity for local authors to showcase their work in a celebration of Shetland writing. We hope everyone who attended Wordplay in Shetland had a great time!
